First, I would like to apologize for my near week long hiatus - I was hit with a sickness like no other and was forced to spend the majority of the week in bed. Finally, I was feeling human enough to change out of my pyjamas, emerge from my apartment and take some outfit photos when I realized that the battery of our SLR camera was left charging at my husband's office. Don't you just feel like sometimes life is a comedy of errors? I was determined - I was up, dressed and we were taking these photos no matter what! The photos were taken on my husband's Nexus 5 phone, and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed - for a camera phone, the quality isn't half bad. Anyways, enough rambling and onto the outfit post!
I'm trying to get the most out of my summery pieces, so I decided to bring out my favourite white denim cropped jeans with a simple grey t-shirt. To make the outfit a little more weather appropriate, I layered a chambray shirt over top, and added a massive blanket scarf and a pair of booties. I'm really happy with the way this outfit turned out, and think that it's a great compromise for transitioning your summer pieces into fall. Read on for additional photos and outfit details.

I am borderline obsessed with any and all blanket scarves lately. They're just such a great accessory for adding volume and texture to an outfit, while being very practical in keeping you warm. Because of their massive size, it can be a little tricky to first figure out how to wear them but the end result is well worth it.
I think it's safe to say that the booties we saw on everyone last fall are here to stay - and I couldn't be happier! I am quite petite and have fairly short legs so I originally thought that booties were not for me. I overcame this [irrational] phobia by making sure the booties had a bit of a heel to elongate my leg, and if I was planning on wearing them with pants, making sure that the pants were cropped. The bit of skin that peeks through the bottom of the cropped pant and the boot gives a much more flattering appearance. These particular Steve Madden Plover booties are great - they have a nice heel and the neutral colour make them go with everything!
What do you think? Too summery, or appropriate for transitioning your Summer wardrobe into Fall? Let me know!
xoxo Joëlle
You look gorgeous! I have been sick all week also (although not so bad I've been stuck in bed, yet...). I would never know you had been sick :) And what fabulous pictures! Your husbands cell camera must be better than mine! LOVE the scarf!

You're so sweet Alecia - thank you! Yes, I was pretty impressed with the phone's camera capabilities - although not enough to ever sway from my beloved iphone ;)
DeleteI got a blanket scarf, too! I'm excited to wear it but it'll probably be at least a month until it cools down enough here. :) Yours looks fab with the chambray!

Thanks Kimi, although I wish that I was in a similar situation of it being too warm to wear scarves - it's freezing here in Toronto!
DeleteYou're back! Yay! Love that scarf. I soooo want one now ;)

I don't want to be an enabler or anything... but I say BUY IT! Lol, thank you it's good to be back :)
DeleteJust followed your lovely Blog! And I don't think the outfit is too summery at all! White pants are a staple item for me, since they're wearable all year long.

Thank you so much Natalie, I'm glad that you're following and that you like my blog!
DeleteI think you're rocking it for early fall. I've been having the same problem... trying to make my fave summer stuff look good for fall. I bought a ton of floral stuff this summer and I'm trying to work them into my wardrobe for the chillier days :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE florals for fall, especially with really masculine items like a military jacket. I'll keep posted to see how you style the florals for Fall!
DeleteI love all of your looks! Seriously.
ReplyDeleteI do have a question - do you have a video or any tips on how to wear a scarf? I never seem to get it right and it looks awful.
Thank you!
:-)
Thank you! I don't have a video, but I've done a few tutorials for Wonder Forest on how to wear a scarf. Check them out here: http://www.thewonderforest.com/2014/07/how-to-tie-head-scarf-for-summer-3-ways.html
