Although Toronto is currently in the middle of a massive heat wave, my head has been totally focused on Fall fashion. I've put a total halt on buying any last summer pieces and am slowly adding different fall-themed items to my closet. The problem is, if you're anything like me then if you acquire a shiny new thing to add to your collection you want to wear it now - who can wait until fall? Transitional pieces like this burnt orange shift dress are perfect to get you from summer to autumn. I still felt cool in the heat by wearing the copper dress with bare legs and a pair of flats, but can totally see it paired with some opaque tights and booties once the weather gets chilly. Three cheers for getting the most out of your fall clothing and using selective pieces to help transition out of summer.
Copper Dress - Forever 21, Black Lace Up Flats - Topshop, Bag - Rebecca Minkoff Mini Quilted Affair, Hat - American Apparel |
Remember an earlier post about fast-fashion bags, specifically how the Forever 21 Chloé Drew inspired bag had totally curbed my lust for the designer item? Well this beautiful Rebecca Minkoff quilted black bag is my budget-friendly alternative to the coveted Chanel mini flap bag. The quality is pretty amazing (as it is with most Rebecca Minkoff bags), and has totally grounded me from thinking that I could actually afford the Chanel (no business.) By the way if you're wondering if I went out with this huge sunflower, then the answer is yes! Who says your wedding can be the only time that walking around with a beautiful flower as an accessory is appropriate!
What are your thoughts on transitional fashion? Are you like me and insist on wearing your fall purchases as soon as you get them? Most importantly, would you ever go out with a massive sunflower as an accessory. No?

This colour looks fab on you! I am still trying to not buy everything on the summer sales and focus on more transitional pieces! Also-- I need to hit up a Forever 21 soon.

I know, the summer sales are so tempting - it's been hard to quit! I've been having a lot of luck with Forever 21 online lately - still not brave enough to visit the one in the Eaton Centre!
DeleteThis entire outfit is pretty much perfection. i need to get my hands on that dress!
ReplyDeleteAwe, thank you! I think that this dress would look amazing on you!
DeleteLove this look! Especially paired with that brilliant sunflower. I too have started the transitional phase between fall and summer. I'll typically pair some shorts with a long sleeve browse, start bringing in my browns and oranges--and going a bit plum on the lipstick.

YES Kelly! Thank you so much for reminding about plum lip colours. Mine may make an appearance this weekend. xx
DeleteLove this colour on you! I'm having a hard time resisting my new fall purchases as well. Definitely trying to focus more on transition this year, and trying to get the most out of my summer pieces while I still can.

Same here Kris. I am becoming painfully aware of my little closet space, so trying to buy a little more strategically for the upcoming seasons!
