OOTD - Faux Leather Leggings

Joyous Celebrations!  The weather in Toronto increased to a near-tropical -4 degrees Celsius this weekend, and I couldn't contain my excitement.  Nothing makes me happier than wandering around the city, so wander I did this weekend and it felt amazing.  During my walk I got to test out my new Aritzia Daria faux-leather leggings, and I have to say - I think I'm in love!  I've been eyeing these babies for months and months now, and am glad I decided to pull the trigger.  The faux-leather on these leggings is of such high quality and they're surprisingly wearable, even for daytime.  As someone who wears black as a bottom the majority of the time, it's nice to have some variety.

Faux-Leather Leggings - Aritzia, Overcoat - Aritzia
Knit Scarf - Zara, Bag - 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli

Word of caution for these leggings: I've been told that they stretch.  For that reason I got the most snug size that I could get my stems sausaged into.  They've already started to stretch, so I'm really glad that I sized down.

What are your thoughts on leather leggings?  Are you into them, or do you they that they're too much for daytime?

  1. Definitely daytime appropriate! Love these leggings...I can't seem to find a good faux leather pair that fit just right. I may need to check them out!

  2. Fantastic outfit!! I've always liked the look of faux-leather or leather leggings...but I'm always afraid to pull a Ross from Friends hahaha. "The lotion and the powder have made a paste!"

    1. YES! Thanks for noticing Mary, I'm so loving the variety of backgrounds as opposed to just a white wall.

  8. Hi I was wondering about the sizing of these leggings? What's your normal jeans size and what leggings size did you then go with? Thanks!

  9. I'm 5-3 or 5-4, 135 pounds. I wear a 6 on average, sometimes 4 or 8 depending on the store. I would say my legs are a smidge short. Taking the stretching into account, what size do you think? Trying to convince myself to spend $100+ as opposed to $20-40

    1. Hmmm - it's hard to say because although you want these leggings to fit nicely right off the bat, they do stretch after a few wears. I would say to size down other then up, but not too much. The legs are a little long, but are very easily tailored. Hope that helps!

  10. Can I ask how tall you are, what size you normally are and what size you got the leggings in? I would buy two and return one but it's an expensive purchase.

Do you have any experience with less expensive leather leggings? Ann Taylor, Express or anything in that vein? I wouldn't go super cheap but curious about the mid-range ones.

    1. I'm 5'2 if that helps. I don't have a lot of experience with other brands in faux-leather leggings, but the Aritzia ones are extremely comfortable.

  11. Do they slide down or get baggy around the 'crotch' area? I have a cheap pair and they're always sliding down my legs and waist, I'm constantly pulling them up, and they get super baggy.

  12. The leggings look really cool and stylish. Sadly, it won’t be of much use to me as the weather is usually quite hot here so I’d have a hard time wearing those leggings. That’s why I usually buy loose fitting work out leggings instead of tight ones for my exercise sessions as well.
